May Allah protect us all against hypocrisy! The biggest recognition of the Hypocrite is that he opposes "Jihad in the way of Allah." He himself does not go out for Jihad and hinders others also from going out.

The world famous commentator of the Noble Quran Imaam "Abu Hayyaan Al-Undlasy" writes while commenting upon the Surah At-Tubah verse No. 71:

This verse gives us five traits of the Believer due to which he is distinguished from the Hypocrite. These days, every party is inviting the people to it to become its member. Numerous institutions and NGO's lie scattered at every step. Do meditate deeply over the matter whether the traits of the Believers are found in that party or not before joining it. God forbids, lest it should possess the evils of the Hypocrites?

Imaam Abu Hayyaan says:

The Hypocrite possesses five traits:

1. Hindering from righteousness whereas Jihad is the greatest righteousness.

2. Persuading to vice which is the special mission of the Hypocrite. He makes utmost efforts to spread vices in the Islamic society. Take the example of most of the NGO's.

3. He shows negligence in prayers. He does not offer prayers. If he does, he does it half-heartedly and idly.

4. He is niggardly in paying Zakat. It is a fact that every Hypocrite is the worshipper of wealth, and greedy and stingy to the very marrow of his bones.

5. He does not wage Jihad. When he is persuaded to Jihad, he does not go out himself and hinders others also.

Here we must do two things. First, we should peep into our hearts whether we also possess any of these hypocritical traits or not. If not, do thank Allah. Second, these traits have actually been described in the Noble Quran. Imaam Abu Hayyaan has not himself described them. Sura At-Taubah, verse 27 describes the complete motto and mission of the Hypocrites. Do study them in detail in the light of some authentic Tafseer book. Not only the Hypocrite men but Hypocrite women have also been discussed there. O yes, the malady of hypocrisy is found in women also with these five evil traits.

The Imaam Abu Hayyaan writes.

The Believer is totally opposite to it. He

1. Persuades to goodness. 2. Prohibits from evils. 3. Offers prayers 4. Pays Zakat, 5. Wages Jihad.

The obedience to Allah and His Messenger in this verse means waging Jihad.

We have studied five traits. All of us are accountable to Allah. We should peep into our hearts whether these traits are found in us or not. May Allah, these be present in us! Then thank Allah. Now let us come to the actual point. Actually, a Muslim should wage great lahour to become a real "Mu'min" and perceive his collective responsibilities. The Noble Quran tells us that the "Hypocrites" the bitter enemies of Islam, gather, make an organization and harm the Muslims. In that case, the Muslim men and women should also gather to counter them. Making an organization does not mean women's leaving their homes and coming out on the roads. Its detail will be next time. Let us first have a look at the organization of the Hypocrites, their targets and their motto. Allah the Almighty says in the Noble Quran:

"The Hypocrites, male and female, are all alike. They bid vice and forbid virtue and withold their hands (from spending in Allah's ways). They forgot Allah, so He forgot them. Surely, the Hypocrites are the sinners." (At-Taubah-67)

The Hypocrites Are Enemies to Jihad in the Way of Allah:

Now note the following writing in the explanation of this verse:

"Hypocrites, men and women, are all alike with regard to unanimity of target because the object of the both is to hinder the Muslims from the protection of their central power and performance of the obligation of Jihad. They feel greatly pained while spending in the way of Allah. They have forgotten their duties that were useful for them. Resultantly, they now regard those things useful that are a source of harm to them. They did not support Islam in the hour of need. Therefore, Allah will also not assist them in the hour of need. The people who give up the idea of protecting Islam, abominate Jihad in the way of Allah and profess Islam mere orally; there is no difference between them and those who do not tend to Islam (Tafseef-ul-Furqan)

The Hypocrites Forbid Jihad:

The writer of Tafseer-E-Mazhary writes in the explanation of this verse.

And they forbid the righteous deeds i.e. they forbid to believe and obey Allah and say, "Do not go out for Jihad in heat." (Tafseer-E-Mazhary)

It means they refer to some loss in Jihad and forbid to wage Jihad as they were hindering people on the pretext of heat on the eve of Ghazwa-E-Tabook.

One Meaning of Witholding Hands is Forsaking Jihad:

Those Hypocrites withold back their hands. One of its meanings is they do not wage Jihad.

Witholding hands means giving up Jihad i.e. they do not wage Jihad.

Ibn-e-Zaid says that they withold their hands from waging Jihad and hold up arms to fight with the enemy.

Witholding hands also includes that they do not expend money on Jihad. Their forsaking Jihad has been described with the help of this phrase.

Abomination From Jihad is the Biggest Sign of the Hypocrite:

We have recited the verses of the Noble Quran as well as the writings of some commentators. Now, judge the present day rulers, men and women, working in the NGO's and political parties in the light of these writings and verses.

The special sign of the Hypocrite is that he abominates Jihad and begins to feel fear hearing of Jihad. This is sufficient for today's topic. Do meditate over it please. The rest will by the grace of Allah, be described next week if life lasts. Wassalaam
