There has been a holy saint named Haatim Asim. Today, I am to narrate one of his sayings. It is said about Hazrat Haatim Asim that he is the "Hakeem Luqman" of this Ummah.

He was the "Follower of the Follower" and a great scholar, saint and Imaam. He is one of the elderly saints of Balkh. Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi says about him i.e. the Siddique of our times was Haatim Asim. Hazrat Haatim had often been visitng Hazrat Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal. He was a Mujahid and he took part in many expeditions and battles.

This is a brief introduction of Hazrat Haatim Asim. He says: Satan says to me daily, "What will you eat, what will you put on and where will you live?" I say to him: "I shall eat death, put on coffin and live in the grave."

Now let us try to perceive Hazrat Haatim Asim's point

Food, Clothing and Housing

Satan daily raises one slogan before me i.e. Food, clothing and Housing. What will you eat? What will you put on? Where will you live? Satan wishes to indulge me in the anxiety of food, clothing and housing and overcome me and make me negligent of Din and the Hereafter.

The slogan of "People's Party" is also bread, clothing and housing. This party comes into power after raising the slogan of these three things. We come to know from Hazrat Haatim Asim's incident as to who actually raised this slogan.

Political Discussion In The Best Month

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) was asked, "Which is the best month?" He (RA) said, "The month of Ramazan." When this answer reached Hazrat Ali (RA), he verified it. But I say that the best month is the one in which you beg pardon of Allah truly.

Now, how great auspiciousness it will be if someone begs pardon of Allah in the holy month of Ramazan. May Allah grant us with such power! Keeping the sanctity and geatness of the sacred month of Ramazan, I do not find any inclination to write anything on politics. But it is also not correct to remain negligent of the present situation. Two big incidents took place on the 2nd of Ramazan.

1. Venerable Asif Zardary was elected the twelfth president of Pakistan.

2. Earthquake jerks were felt in many parts of the country.

Now tell me please how can that incident be overlooked at which the earth itself began to shake. Satan has given anyone neither bread, nor clothing nor housing till this day. He just raises the slogan of these things so that man may indulge himself in the anxiety of the world. When man is caught in the world, Satan catches hold of him and snatches away his Belief.

Retort To the Satan

When Satan tried to entangle Hazrat Haatim Asim in the tension of food, housing and clothing, he retorted him that he would eat death, put on coffin and live in the grave. There are numerous philosophies in the answer:

1. Anxiety for the Hereafter saves man from the Satanic attack. When man remembers death, coffin and grave, the net of Satan breaks.

2. The man who remembers death, grave and coffin and keeps preparing for them; his livelihood is not straitened. It is warning to the Satan that he (man) is going to the real destination and on the way to the real destination, food clothing and housing are themselves provided according to the needs as people make arrangements for the pilgrims on their way.

3. The food, clothing and housing that are ordained to a man are provided to him at any cost whereas his duty is to prepare for the Hereafter. Man should become just the seeker of the Hereafter not this world.

The Reality Is Something Else

The reality of the matter is, the more a man nourishes the greatness of the world, the more he becomes humiliated and mean to Allah. In other words, he becomes more humiliated and mean than the insects. We know well that snakes and scorpions become the rulers of the insects. If the snake dies, the scorpion resumes power but if scorpion dies, the snake comes into power. We complain of Allah that He has not granted our prayers but we do not peep into our hearts how much mundane we have grown. So much so, numerous Mujahid and Maulvi hold costly mobiles is their hands and begin to strut.   Have you ever thought what will be the condition of laymen if the selected people of the nation begin to make a show of the mobile, brag after wearing a costly pair of shoes and make the wrist watch a cause of pride?

1. Does honour lie in riches?

2. Is respect found in costly mobiles, costly shoes and clothes?

3. Is it fair to make a show of the necessities of life?

All right, I admit that these are trivial things. But one thing becomes clear from it how great love of matter and how great valuelessness of Din we nourish in our hearts. It becomes crystal clear that we are mundane. If we are "mundane" we are inferior to the insects. Allah is the master of the sun, the moon and the skies. What importance do mobiles, shoes, spectacles and clothes hold to Allah? He created us from a drop of semen and then honoured us through His name and His Din. Now, if we try to seek respect, honour and greatness in anything other than Din, we will grow mean; and only snakes and scorpions rule over the mean insects. Allah's holy people do not become their rulers. Let it go. I was saying that after Parvez Musharrif, Asif Zardary has become the president of Pakistan.

Three Castles

The seekers of death are blessed with eternal life. Those who remain anxious about "Life" die many times. Hazrat Haatim Asim has told us that the method of escaping the Satanic slogan of food, clothing and housing is the remembrance and preparation for death. So, no need feeling fear. The worldly rulers are helpless. They can cause no benefit or loss to anyone. Therefore, we should keep doing our work and keep searching for the life of martyrdom. Then, no one, by the grace of Allah, will harm us. What dear when we love death and grave? Only those are afraid whom Satan entangles in the anxiety of food, clothing and housing. They are afraid of death as well as being deprived of anything. We, the Muslims, have forgotten the sacred saying of the Holy Prophet . He has forbidden us to love "Zar" i.e. gold and silver and has told us that love of "Zar" (matter) is the root cause of every calamity. But we kept following "Zar" to become "Zardar" i.e. the owners of gold and silver. Now, the nation should be delighted that "Zaradary" has become their president.

Name Will Have To Be Changed In The Supplication

Hazrat Ka'b Al-Ahbar (RA) says that three things fortify the Muslims:

(1). Masjid (2) Allah's Zikr (3). Recitation of the Noble Quran

No matter who is the ruler. As Muslims, we are to do a few things. There are five obligations after believing.

(1) Salaat, (2) Fasting, (3) Hajj, (4) Zakaat, (5) Jihad

It is obligatory to admit them. No matter, who is the rule, Bush or a gentleman. When these conditions are found, it is essential to act upon these obligations. The obligation of these obligations is not affected with the change in the government. But it is obligatory to the Muslim rulers to make arrangements to establish these obligations and enforce them with power.

It is written in the books that the rulers who postpone "The obligation of Jihad" and do not send the armies for Jihad for once in a year, should be dismissed. We, Pakistanis, hold the grandeur of the old kings. Everything is imported for us. In other words, the entire world has become our slave. Japan manufactures our vehicles, England manufactures soaps and shampoos and China manufactures other things for us. And it is the job of America to send rulers for us. All the things that were agreed upon between PPP and America have been published in the newspapers. BB Sahiba (Banazir) worked hard to propitiate America. Then after great toil, she propitiated Musharrif. But all the fruit of BB's labour has been reaped by Zardary. Now, see what Mr. Zardary does. Many of our Muslim brothers are worried that Mr. Zardary will act upon American agenda. Moreover, Mr. Zardary was such and such in the past. But Allah be thanked, we are satisfied. We were at the mercy of Allah and now also Allah's support is with us. It will be all OK if Mr. Zardary works positively. If he creates disruption, we will cut the words Parvez Musharrif from one of our supplications and insert the words Mr. Asif Zardary there. Normally that supplication often comes to the lips. The heart smiles and says, "My dear stop, this supplication has already been granted."
