May Allah grant us all with complete and permanent Belief in

We are lucky as Allah is granting us with the power and capacity to talk about His Great Kalima.

Allah be thanked! This may be the last day of our lives, we don't know. The words of a tradition is, "The Muslim whose last words are  will certainly enter paradise.

I was to narrate two incidents. One of them was given in the last column. The second detailed incident is reported by Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas. We shall give here its summary.

There was a holy worshipper in the Bani Israeel staying in a cave all alone away from people. The Bani Israelites were impressed by his worship and piety. Once, they talked about him to their prophet and praised him much. The prophet said, "If that person had not been the forsaker of a Sunnah, he would have been as pious as you say." The point was conveyed to that holy man. He was worried as, "I observe fast all the day long and stay in prayers the whole might. Still I am forsaker of the Sunnah. Then why am I tiring myself" He descended from his worship place and went to the prophet. After greetings, he introduced himself. He asked the prophet about the words conveyed to him. The prophet said, "You have not married. It is forsaking Sunnah on your part." The holy man said, "This is the only point!" The Prophet said, " Yes." When the holy man took it easy and light, the prophet said, "Lo! See! If all the people refuse to marry like you, how will new generations come? Who will defend the Muslim children against the enemy? Who will bid the good and forbid vice?" The holy man grasped the point and said to the prophet, "I have not made marriage unlawful to me but I am a beggar. I have no power to bear the expenses of marriage and wife." The prophet said, "I get my daughter married to you." The holy man acceded. They were married and a son was born to them. The Israelites were greatly pleased at the birth of that baby. They would say, "He is the son of our prophet and our holy man. He will be very high-ranked." When that boy grew up, he deserted the Muslims and joind the polytheists. Many people also apostated and joined him. When the number of the polytheists increased, he said to those polytheists, "What is the matter? We are great in number still the Muslims dominate." They said, "Those Muslims have a chief i.e. they are in the form of an organization, whereas we have no chief or leader." He said, "Who is the chief of the Muslims?" The people said, "Your grandfather is their chief." He said to them, "I am your chief from today." People agreed. He made an army of them and went out to fight the Muslims. The Muslims were also informed. That boy's grandfather i.e. prophet of his time and his father i.e. that holy man also took their army and went out to fight that boy. They sent a message to that boy, "Fear Allah, and give up idol worship. What is all this that you yourself are apostated and have come out to attack us." But he did not agree. There remained a fierce battle between both the armies for two days. The prophet and the holy man both got killed and the Muslims were defeated. So many were killed and so many others were captivated. That man said, "I have resolved to make after the Muslims, catch them one by one and kill them in the mountains."

When the surviving Muslims saw this situation, they gathered at one place. They said, "Our empire has been wiped out. Our prophet and holy man have been killed. This man is still making after us to extirpate us. Let us prostrate before Allah and ask forgiveness of Him so that if we get killed, we may be in a state of repentance." They repented from the core of their hearts, appointed a gentleman their chief and got ready for Jihaad. There remained a furious battle between both the armies for three days. When Allah found them true and steadfast in Belief and repentance, He looked to them with mercy. A wind began to blow all of a sudden. The leader of the Muslims said, "I hope, our repentance has been granted. I see this air is for our assistance. If Allah grants you with victory try to capture this young man alive." The battle started. In the last part of the day, Allah's assistance came down. The polytheists were defeated. The Muslims got back their land. That young man was captured alive. The leaders of the Muslims gathered and began to consult as what should be done with so big culprit. Someone said, "Burn him alive." Someone said, "Chop him to pieces." The chief did not agree. All said, "Do what you will." The chief ordered to suspend him alive at the gallows." He was suspended alive. There was strict security around him. He remained suspended there hungry and thirsty for three days. After three days, he lost couage at midnight. He kept calling to his idols one by one but there was no answer. At last, all the idols vanished from his heart and  entered his heart. He cried out, "O Allah! I am in trouble. If there had been good in those whom I worshiped, they would have helped me. O the Lord of my grandfather and father, I beg forgiveness of You. Rid me please of this trouble. I do repent and promise to be one among the Muslims." Hence, the rope was untied that very instant and he came to the ground. The guards caught him and took him to their chief. The chief said, "What do you say about him?" They said, "What can we say about the person whom Allah rids." So, he was released.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas says "By Allah, there was none better than he among the Bani Israil at that time." (Baihaqi)
Have you witnessed how  writes off sins. Do count that man's sins. Each sin is so heinous that the earth may begin to tremble. But when the heart came to  truly, it wrote off everything.

We Learn Many Important Lessons From This Incident.

(i) Marriage is the Sunnah of all the prophets. Belief gains strength and protection through marriage. So marriage should be held according to the Sharia.

(ii) When a marriage proposal according to requirements of Deen is received, no consideration should be given to wealth and property. The prophet in the Bani Israil found a person who was although destitute; his religious state was enviable. So, he himself asked him to marry his daughter. These days, so many people attach their Muslim daughters with usurers, non-worshippers and irreligious people for the sake of a few coins. In this way, they ruin them and their children. O Believers, avoid the Fire yourselves and save your families also. This is the fire whose fuel is humans and stones.

(iii) Jihaad was in vogue in the past Ummahs also and was considered a great activity. So much so, marriages were arranged so that individuals to wage Jihaad might be born. Imaam Bukhari has written profusely about the topic that man should have sexual relations with his wife so that Allah may bless him with a son who may wage Jihaad.

(iv) The foundation of Islamic commity is basel on Deen not territory, family or language. When that boy apostated and set fort to fight the Muslims, the prophet and the holy man of that time came out to wage Jihaad against him. The family relation became no hindrance in the way to Deen.

(v) Presence of organization, discipline and chief are a source of domination and success. This secret of success is for all whether Muslim or non-Muslim. Those who are fully united, gain worldly progress and benefit. However, it is also compulsory for the Muslims because Allah has ordered for it and the Holy Prophet  has emphasized upon it. Hence, the people who weaken the organization for their personal interests are the enemies to the Muslims and are a hurdle in their progress.

(vi) In the same way, sometimes infidelity and falsehood can triumph in confrontation between Infidelity and Islam, Truth and falsehood as you have read in the above incident that the polytheists dominated so much that the prophet of the Muslims and the holy man got killed and their land was occupied by the infidels. It did not prove that Infidelity was in the right. However, there are many philosophies in such circumstances. If we study the battle of Uhud in the Holy Quran, it becomes easy to perceive such situation.

(vii) It is a great good luck to get killed in Jihaad. It is not deprivation, failure and ruination. So many past prophets and their companions in the past Ummahs got killed while waging Jihaad. Death in Shahaadat is the thing that the killer is unsuccessful but the killed is successful. ’

(viii) When critical moments befall the Believers, they should not worry to save their lives and that they are to lead the rest of their lives in peace rather they should be anxious at once and take stock of themselves that those circumstances were not due to their sins. Hence, they should , at once, resort to forgiveness. This is the biggest difference between a Believer and Hypocrite. When critical situation is created, the Hypocrite cries out, "Oh, my life!" The Believer cries out, "Oh, my Belief!" The Hypocrites create panic at such time, talk of fear and are involved in the anxiety to remain away and save their lives whereas the Believers resort to repentance at once and correct their matters with Allah.

(ix) If timely defeat befalls in Jihaad, arrangements should at once be made to attack again. This thing washes away the ill-effects of defeat and the doors of victory open.

If man stands aloof after defeat, he dies forever. But if he re-attacks in any way, victory becomes certain for him. When those who had faced timely defeat in the battle of Uhud undertook the journey of Battle of Hamra-Al-Asad in a state when they were injured, the situation changed. In the above incident, when the few survivors appointed their new chief and faced the enemy, Allah helped them.

(x) The Muslims should always remain attached with Allah. The position of great personalities may be very high but everyone is to taste death. When a man keeps his Belief or religious tasks or passions attached with personalities, he stumbles. In this incident, the prophet of the Bani Israil got killed. Their holy man got killed. So many Muslims got killed. But the survivors said, "Allah is present. He is ever Alive. If we beg forgiveness of Him and fight for His sake, He will save the entire nation. Chief as well as commander can get killed in Jihaad. The Muslims should remain ever-ready to face such situation and accidents. When such accidents occur, they should remain steadfast.

These are ten lessons but the most important lesson is that  writes off all kinds of sins though those sins are bigger than the oceans but the condition is that should be recited sincerely. How should sincerity be created? Its most effective method is to recite in abundance.
